- Agios Pantes
Agios Pantes is simply a small cluster of houses stretched out along the old road to Iraklion. Amenities in the village consist of a kafenion and a petrol station with a mini-market. The White Mountains can be viewed from most locations in the village. The village has good access to the E75 National Road and is about 15 minutes from both Vamos and Kalives. - Alexandron
Village at the southern end of the Apokoronas region. - Almirida
Almyrida is a growing village which was once the port for nearby Plaka. It is a popular place with holidaymakers and locals alike, with many Cretan families visiting the beautiful shallow bay during the weekends. There is a water sports centre on the beach and small harbour for boats. The village has many local amenities, several small but well stocked grocery stores, internet cafe, wine shop, bars and several tavernas serving very good dishes. Several of the shops remain open throughout the year. Almyrida is approximately 25 km from Chania, buses and taxis service the village. - Armeni
Armeni is a traditional and charming village which was once the administrative and commercial centre of the region. The roads leading into the village are lined by impressive platanos trees that give it a French air. A small river runs through the village and alongside the impressive church. Surrounding the village are many orange groves which are irrigated by the river. During the summer months the village is a cooler retreat compared to the surrounding areas. There are a few popular kafenions, a good butchers and a small mini-market that stocks a lot of local produce. The village contains some high ground and contains many older houses in need of restoration. There are spectacular views of the White Mountains within the village. Kalives about 5 km away. - Aspro
Aspro is a very small hamlet perched atop a small hill a short drive from the beach at Almyrida. Recent development within the village has given better access to the village via a new road from the south. There is a large church and a small holiday hotel in the village. Gavalochori or Almyrida provide the nearest shops and tavernas. Views to both the coast and the majestic White Mountains are excellent. - Chania
Chania, or ancient Kydonia is Crete's second city. The city has a long and varied history which is reflected in the different areas of the old town and Venetian harbour, which is a major tourist attraction for tourists and locals with its many restaurants and tavernas. Chania's airport is located on the Akrotiri peninsula which handles domestic and international flights. All the major services and amenities can be found in Chania, from the new hospital, shopping, telephone services, traditional markets, financial, mayorial and legal services. A host of primary, secondary and tertiary education establishments are located in the city, as are numerous gymnasiums, swimming pool, bowling alley and botanical gardens. Many of the older parts of the city have been restored in recent years and provide a peaceful area to explore the cities past. Chania has a lively night life and arts scene with theatre performances, exhibitions and concerts, as well as several cinemas dotted around the town. - Douliana
Douliana is a relaxing traditional village which is renowned for its tavernas and kafenion which offer dishes that are popular with local Cretan visitors. Several old farm houses give the village a distinct atmosphere while the surrounding countryside gives a very rural feel. There are a few accesible tracks which allow the immediate area to be easily explored on foot, or by vehicle. The views of sea and mounains are very good. The nearest amenities can be found in either Kalyves or Gavalochori. - Drapanos
Drapanos is a traditional village located at the foot of Drapanos mountain (a large prominent hill). The local square has a kafenion, taverna and church. A small grocery market provides basic provisions, otherwise the nearest facilities are to be found in either Plaka or Kefalas. A small bay with taverna is located nearby. - Exopoli
Exopoli is a small village perched on a hill side and stretches out along the road between Vamos and Georgioupolis. There location provides fantastic views across the sea and towards the Psilotis and Lefka Ori mountain ranges. - Gavalohori
Large village with very old church. Village school and many kafenion and tavernas.
